A police horse has been punched by a man while on duty during Southampton and Portsmouth derby.
It is now understood that the horse will take two weeks emotional leave. Apparently the horse not only suffered physical abuse but verbal insults also.
The horse, who is known as Herbert told us, “I know some humans may find it amusing to ask, ‘why the long face?’ but I must’ve heard it over hundreds times this year alone. You may not realise but it’s actually very offensive.”
Herbert added, “He also mentioned that I wasn’t hung like a horse. I’m not sure what this means exactly but he kept on trying to grab me in my private area. I don’t know if the same applies to humans but in the horse world it is highly inappropriate.”
A man, 52, has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.
Herbert also plans to sue for a work-related injury. He said, “It was a pathetic punch, more like a slap from a pussycat than a man.” But Herbert told us that he had a previous injury from a bowling green altercation which has flared up due to the ‘pathetic’ punch. Herbert went on to say, “the pussy is lucky, if I could uppercut he would’ve taken a big hit.
The scuffle was filmed and put on social media.
Herbert also believes that the police officers may be at fault of neighgligence for his safety.
He mentioned that he has grown a bit tired of this line of work and has been considering a 9-5 office job in a stable work environment.
Although this is not his dream job, he told us that he has always dreamed of opening a cocktail bar by the beach on the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean. He has had the idea ever since he saw the Tom Cruise film Cocktail which is a big favourite among horses. Also the reason why there is such a high percentage of horse Scientologists.
He hopes it will popular spot for all, “if you are a little hoarse, then come for a little drink,” he proclaimed.
He looks forward to retiring out there and said, “I imagine myself sat on a beach watching the sunset whilst sipping on a sweet Piña Colada.”
