Prince Harry has announced he has accepted a position as the off-season caretaker of the Overlook Hotel in Colorado. It is understood that the Duke of Sussex will winter at the hotel with his wife Meghan and their young son Archie.
The news comes after the couple announced that they are stepping back as senior royals and plan to become financially independent.
‘This is the ideal job’ said Harry, speaking from the hotel foyer.
‘The Overlook is so remote and cut off during the winter that we can finally get away from the tabloid press and at the same time work towards our goal of financial independence’.
‘I’m looking forward to a bit of peace and quiet, I might even use the time to do a bit of writing and make a start on that book about my days in the army. But there’s still plenty of time to have some fun in the snow with Meghan and Archie, after all you know what they say – all work and no play makes Harry a dull boy’.
The Duchess of Sussex is also looking forward to a period of seclusion.
‘It’s bliss up here’ says Meghan.
‘We have the run of the place and Archie will have plenty of space to bomb around on the new tricycle we got him for Christmas. We can go anywhere in the hotel apart from room 237, apparently something awful happened there in the past and we’ve been warned to stay away from it all costs. It’s a bit like Andrew’s bedroom in Buckingham Palace’.
‘Hang on, what’s that awful racket? Thank God, it’s only Harry bashing the door in with an axe’.
‘For a horrible moment I thought it might be Nicholas Witchell’.
