The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they are stepping back from royal duties.
Having become jaded with the burden of responsibility of being the royal family’s ‘touchy-freely’ franchise, Harry and Meghan have stepped-down to allow the experts, Posh and Becks, to carry on their good work.
The Beckhams are the first in line to the ducal titles, followed by Richard and Judy, and Gavin and Stacey.
Buckingham Palace has warned the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that their desire to “step back” from the Royal Family will be “complicated” and will take time.
Priority at the palace will be given to ensure a smooth, yet speedy, transition of titles and duties as David (Becks) has football commitments in the US, and Victoria (Posh) is rumoured to be touring with the Spice Girls as soon as she’s learnt the words to their songs.
Harry and Meghan’s decision was announced on Instagram on Wednesday evening when they said they would divide their time between the UK and North America and become financially independent while continuing to “fully support” the Queen.
It’s understood the outgoing Sussexes have been viewing properties in Dewsbury, with a view to handing over the keys to Frogmore Cottage and Sir Elton’s private jet this week.
The Queen appointed Harry Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Navy and Honorary Air Commandant of Royal Air Force Honnington.
Roles which Harry will still perform behind the scenes, but it will be Becks that appears on the calendars.
When asked to comment on his new role, Becks said: “One’s over the moon.”
