It’s the moment film fans have been waiting for – the announcement of this year’s nominations for the Academy Awards.
But the reveal has once again caused controversy, with men dominating the shortlist for almost every category.
Masculism campaigners hailed this year’s male-dominated nominations as a “wonderful moment” in the fight for the advancement of men.
“It’s great to see male talent finally being fully embraced by the academy,” said activist Piers Morgan.
There isn’t even a single woman in the Best Director category.
“For too long we’ve had to put up with stale women taking home every award – like that po-faced madam who directed The Hurt Locker.” continued Morgan.
“Thanks to our campaigning, the Oscars have finally faced up to the fact that 2019 is the year of the man.”
There are two categories, however, that appear to be completely snubbing the film industry’s male talent.
Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.
