At least half a dozen people are expected to attend the Brexit event hosted by Nigel Farage at the John Smiths Stadium on Monday – including members of the local press, Frank who does the bar on weeknights, Dave who locks up afterwards and of course Nigel himself.
The Huddersfield rally is part of a series of events he is taking part in as the country’s arch-Brexiteer barnstorms the north of England with visits to Aldi’s in Lincoln tomorrow and a roundabout situated on the outskirts of Durham next week which literally hundreds of people are expected to avoid.
Asked to comment, David Davies, managing director of Excel Stadium Development Limited which oversees events there, said: “No comment from the stadium on that. It’s just a private room booking. We have of course reminded Nigel of the ban on smoking in public places and have asked him to stack the chairs neatly once he’s finished.”
