McDonald’s staff took to the streets in London over protest over pay.
It is believed that they are protesting against being paid less than Ronald McDonald. Mr. McDonald – a loyal employee who has worked for the company since 1963 is apparently not worthy of his wage according to the staff on strike.
Many others even make the claim that he is not real which is ridiculous because I’ve seen him several times on different continents. This also proves he is busy promoting the brand and therefore worthy of his seven figure annual salary. Who do they think deliver the burgers to the store?
McDonald’s themselves say that it is only a tiny proportion of UK staff who are represented by the protesters.
Many still look up to him as a hero even though he is a clown. It was thought that as he got a bit older he would move into a managerial role but he has yet to do that. In fact when we asked staff they were unsure of what his role is.
It is reported that in recent years he has cut down his workload but is still paid the same salary. On top of this he gets a yearly Christmas bonus of 1,000 Big Macs. This has angered employees who choose not to adhere to Ronald’s Christmas burger bonus scheme and wish not to be paid in burgers.
Relations between Mr. McDonald and staff have been a little frosty ever since he tried to implement his strict McDonald’s diet on fellow staff. It basically consists of eating only McDonald’s food. Ronald McDonald has stuck to this diet throughout his tenure except for one blip during the 1990’s when he ate a Whopper. The 90’s were a tough time for Ronald and he was often seen smoking fries and injecting special sauce behind the drive-thru.
Other McDonald’s staff in countries including the US, France, Brazil and Chile have also been on strike about their wages.
I decided to go to a local McDonald’s where Ronald was making an appearance. I asked him about the animosity from his protesting staff members. He didn’t seem very fussed at all, he just handed out a few hamburgers, laughed and danced around a bit. It was good to see that none of this uproar has had any affect on him.
