Kanye West won't headline Coachella. Jimmy Nail booked instead

It was the announcement every American Hipster had been waiting for – but today’s Coachella line-up reveal stunned fans, who’d been expecting Kanye West to join Childish Cambino and Ariana Grande on the bill.

It’s understood organisers lost patience with the rapper’s insane demands for his rider, and opted for British soul legend and star of Auf Wiedersehen Pet Jimmy Nail instead.

The 64-year-old told The News Dump: “I can’t wait to fly out to the desert with my ‘Crocodile Shoes’.

“I’ve not finalised my setlist yet but you can be sure there’ll be some classics in there, a few new ones – and one or two surprises!”

His appearance comes months after he stole the show at Aretha Franklin’s funeral by performing a stripped-down version of his 1992 hit ‘Ain’t No Doubt’. The new version rose straight to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 where it stayed for several weeks.

Coachella – one of the biggest musical festivals in the world – is due to take place in California in April.

News of Nail’s booking for Coachella was greeted with delight and excitement by music fans across the US.

Twitter user FestivalGyal500 tweeted: “OMG dint think anything could top Beyonce in 2018 but JIMMY NAIL!!! STRUGGLING TO BREATH RN”

RachelLambowski95 said on Instagram: “Jimmy Nail is LIFE. If he plays ‘Love Don’t Live Here Any More’ I may actually drop dead on the spot.”

Nail’s headline set coincides with the release of his new album ‘Old Dog, New Tricks’.

Coachella tickets go on sale on Monday, priced at $3,000 (£2,900).
