Victoria Derbyshire has just joined a lengthy list of presenters who have made the embarrassing mistake of calling Jeremy Hunt the c-word live on air.
And in an unusually benevolent gesture for a Tory Leadership contender, Jeremy Hunt had agreed to change his name to Jeremy C***, to avoid any future confusion.
The presenter called the Foreign Secretary ‘Jeremy C***’ on her weekday news and current affairs programme
“I have so much sympathy for television presenters”, stated the current Foreign Secretary, “So to make life easier, I’ve made the radical decision to change my name by deed poll to Jeremy C***. It’s spelt C,*,*,*, but it will be pronounced ‘C***’.”, insisted Mr H****
Ms Derbyshire, who appeared shocked at her slip up, went on to apologise profusely before insisting ‘it’s usually men who say that’.
“but come on. Be fair. He is a Tory. And I do work for the BBC, who today have had to pass on Government spending cuts on to the over 75s”, she defended herself, “H*** by name, C*** by nature”, she inadvertently said.
Victoria Derbyshire isn’t the first. James Naughtie made the error when Mr Hunt was culture secretary, while Justin Webb tripped up when the minister was health and social care secretary
“Well that’s my name on the Honours Board at ‘Wogan House'”, laughed Victoria
The Cabinet Minister has been called the “C-Bomb” many times
But usually by cabinet members who were part of the Bullingdon Club
