Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be leaning towards a royal baby name that pays tribute to her African-American heritage, according to sources close to the couple.
With ‘Barack’ and ’Oprah’ now the bookie’s favourites for the name of the long anticipated baby, it appears that a deliberate choice has been made to bring together both Meghan’s upbringing, and Harry’s tradition of being under her thumb.
Meghan Markle is expected to give birth to the baby any day now as fans, who are arguably fewer in number than those anticipating every baby Will and Kate have but definitely larger in number than one or two, anxiously anticipate the arrival of the new royal.
Royal commentator Jeremy Twatt told us, “The Duke and Duchess will have put a lot of time and consideration into the name of their child, as opposed to tossing a coin over a couple of names that feature in Eastenders, or whatever it is that commoners do to determine a name.
“The name ‘Barack’ is the perfect choice, as Harry spent a lot of time with the Obamas, and also because it is good to uphold the name of America’s finest living President over the braying fool currently squatting in the White House.
“And who doesn’t love Oprah Winfrey? Exactly.”
Many anticipating fans have remained camped outside Windsor castle in the hope they are the first to hear of any new updates regarding Meghan Markle and the baby of Sussex.
As well as fans there are a number of angry Daily Mail and Daily Express journalists and paparazzi, who, due to the strict privacy of the couple, haven’t been able to try and photograph the birth through a window of the Lindo Wing using a telephoto lens as they did with all Kate Middleton’s pregnancies.
One told us, “It’s not fair, all this privacy. We don’t mean any harm or intrusion – we just want to be the first to find out what shade of foreign the kid looks so we know how angry to make our readers.”
