Satirists across the UK have decided to pack and go home after Brexiteer, Colin Browning, blew them all out of the water with one tweet.
Colin voted leave in the 2016 referendum and has posted regularly in support of Brexit. But after waiting at Schiphol airport for 55 minutes he tweeted ‘This is not the Brexit I voted for.’
As the tweet went viral, satirists handed in their pens and laptops, and the BBC announced that Have I Got News For You has been cancelled with immediate effect. The OED has confirmed that the definition of ‘satire’ has been replaced by a photo of Colin and the Olympic Committee released a statement saying there will be ‘no further discussion on whether satire should be made an Olympic event’ as Mr Browning has already ‘won at satire’.
A campaign for Colin to be knighted for services to comedy was set up overnight and has 17.4 million signatures already.
Many Twitter uses responded to Colin’s tweets with jokes of their own.
But none even came close to his gem.
